Waking Up to Spring

These deep purple poppies would feel like velvet in the palm of your hand. The canvas is dripping with sunlight like a warm day in May.

I find it simply delightful that there are varietals of #poppies in so many different colors. In our neighborhood, the red-orange poppies are making their debut right now. It makes me happy every time I pass by them.

In this painting I wanted to capture the spirit of #springtime. All of the plant life that lay dormant during the long, cold winter is waking back up and coming to life.

Spring is a messy time of year, with the constant rain showers leading to so much mud. But it's a time of rebirth all the same, and that is something worth celebrating.
