Recently I learned there is a whole science behind the impact water has on humans. Blue Mind theory is about the numerous cognitive and emotional benefits we receive by spending time near water.
According to marine biologist Dr. Wallace Nichols, “There are numerous cognitive and emotional benefits that we derive every time we spend time by water, in water or underwater.” You can read about the benefits here.
Many of my paintings celebrate my love of being by the water, the breeze blowing in my hair, the feeling of being able to jump in for a swim and feel the weightless sensation of gliding through the waves.
Water shows up a lot in my landscape paintings, and you’ll see hints of it in the background of a lot of my florals as well. It is the most essential ingredient to sustaining life and our most precious resource, something worth celebrating!
